Mechanic – All Purpose

The Mechanic, All Purpose is a position for a “Jack of all Trades” with a flexible approach to work who is happy to get involved in anything and everything.  This position will report to the head of operations for the farm and will work alongside the operational staff.  The Mechanic, All Purpose will be responsible for repairs and maintenance of small consumer engines as well as heavy duty repairs on larger equipment.

Job Description:

• Repair all farm related equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner
• Ensure that all equipment and machinery maintenance are kept up to date
• Provide estimated project time completion
• Ensure all aspects of the job is done to the operation team’s satisfaction
• Look for additional repair opportunities that will increase the efficiency of the farming operation
• Responsible for operating and monitoring the farm’s automated irrigation system
• Act as the onsite caretaker and provide oversight to the property should any issues come up
• Communicate job expectations with the on-site Operations Manager
• Work in compliance with all Richberry Group safety policies, procedures and WorkSafe BC regulations.

Job Requirements:

• Must be an experienced mechanic with both small consumer engines and heavy-duty machinery
• Experience as an automotive mechanic
• General fabrication and welding experience both on steel and aluminum
• Experience in light construction
• Comprehensive computer and troubleshooting skills
• Must have or be willing to acquire a Class 1 Driver’s License
• Must have or be willing to acquire First Aid Level II
• Must have or be willing to acquire a Pesticide Application Ticket
• Must have or be willing to acquire a Forklift Operations Ticket
• Must have or be willing to acquire WHMIS
• Able to contribute positively to a quality team environment
• A self-starter and able to work under minimal supervision
• Minimum of 3 years consumer / heavy duty mechanic experience required
